Chinese lacquer, is a natural material. I've tried a digital restoration here.
It's derived from the sap of lacquer trees. The production process of lacquer - ware is very complex and delicate. Craftsmen have to apply many layers of lacquer on the base material. Each layer needs to be dried and polished carefully.
